Happy New Year! I don't update this enough. In the past few months, tight bros over at QRO Magazine did an FGC giveaway/contest, GIRLFRIENDS won Best Rock Artist of the Year at the Boston Music Awards (wtf?) and got some NPR love (wtf??), a bunch of shows happened, etc. It's cool, it's cool, we'll get better at this, right? So, NEXT UP, we are joining forces with Sippy Cup Everything to bring DUZHEKNEW and COUSINS from Halifax to Gay Gardens in Allston. The show will be happening March 5th w/ Girlfriends and HANDS & KNEES (fresh off celebrating a new release!). Girlfriends also just posted their tour dates down to SXSW this year. Throwing those on the calender in a bit!

hey everybody--got another FGC show coming up in a couple weeks with ROOFTOP VIGILANTES (punky hyper pop) + BABY BIRDS DONT DRINK MILK (swirly psych punk) from KS --now at O'BRIEN'S! the artists formerly known as SCHOOLMATES are now CUFFS and feature ex-PANTS YELL! + current REPORTS members. also in the works, a show w/ PET MILK from Philly. woo!

whattasumma!! GIRLFRIENDS just got back from a 6-week tour not too long ago, and have been playing NYC every weekend since. got some mintyfresh boston shows coming up too. we found out about so many great bands in the USA in the last couple months--we want to bring them all to town! we'll keep you posted on our new FLOATING GARBAGE CONTINENT PRESENTS series coming at you this fall.. first up: MISSION CREEPS (AZ garagey horror punk) / THE CHARMS (Boston garage legends, reunited for select shows this seezin!) / HUMAN TAIL (newww jams from a new band we've been hearing tons of good stuff about) @ O'Brien's 9/6 -- dont miss outttttt

We're going to San Francisco in late October to attend a fancy shmancy bookbinding convention. should be awesome. we'll let you know if we're gonna do any shows out there or whatever. that new project we mentioned last time is called GIRLFRIENDS and has a few shows booked (10/8 @ Boomerangs, 10/14 and 11/19 @ the Plough and Stars) dont miss out on Boston's newest trashpop band kid

Christians & Lions' EP release for "Bird's Milk" is tonight at the Middle East Upstairs at 8:30 pm. For $8 you'll see Brontosaur (who are also releasing a CD tonight), Allysen Callery & the Land of Nod, and the Big Big Bucks as well. C&L also posted a new track (from the EP) on their myspace.
Oh, and it's been brought to our attention that some folks are having trouble navigating the site, so we posted some signs.

Before I forget: NO MAIL ORDERS taken between now and 8/12 are gonna ship until mid-August because our silly asses are going on tour! Sorry 'bout that! (To be honest, we're out of half this stuff anyway and need to print/dub/build new editions in late summer). DIY lollll

I am terrible at updating this thing, but exciting stuff has been happening in the last 6 months! For one thing, we've founded the Undead Media Distro at Floating Garbage Continent, which will carry a bunch of cassettes, VHS, and vinyl by our favorite independent, DIY artists (Thick Shakes, New Yoga's Dark Bong, Kid Romance, Awesome Animal Ambulance) to various places in the US (and beyond, eventually). Check out FGC's UMD at every Christians & Lions stop on their summer tour, where the aforementioned band will have their new "Bird's Milk" EP (out late July 2009 on FGC). Updates to the catalogue (and the site in general) are on their way, too!

New site: updates/improvements on their way.
FGC-2 is out!! Our newest baybee's called FAT EMOTION, and it's a chapbook containing 5 poems written by B. e. Potrykus. The hand-numbered edition of 25 boasts hand-typed-then-xeroxed poems in a rainbow pull two-layer screen printed cover finished with hand-carved linoleum stamps. yowza @ each and every one is a little different. all of them are hand-bound in a pamphlet stitch by Apple Scruffs. (Available via mail order placed by e-mail or in person).
